Where the Crawdads Sing

I never knew it was possible to feel so much heartbreak and simultaneous see so much beauty in a book. That was until I read Where the Crawdads Sing. Hands down one of my favorite reads of 2021.

Set in the marshes of coastal North Carolina the novel tells the story of Kya, a little girl that the town refers to as “the marsh girl” who comes of age alone after her family abandons her.

Right from the start the author drew me in and had me wanting to follow Kya’s journey to see where it would end, and oh that ending Ms. Owens I see what you did there. The main character defy’s the odds, stays true to herself, and even with so much working against her manages to find and use her gifts. I would be doing the book a disservice if I left out the unsolved death that plays out through the timeline of the book and had me on the fence over possible outcomes until the very end.

Have you read Where the Crawdads Sing? If so drop your thoughts in the comments.
